St. Annes 150 years - programme details

Hi there,
The Inaugural mass on the 3rd January was followed by the staging of the play “The Guardian Angel” which portrayed the life of St Claudine Thevenet the Foundress of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary. I was fortunate to attend this on the 7th January, 2009. Ms. Meher Pudumjee, CEO of Thermax, was the Chief Guest and made an inspiring speech for the young students. The programme was staged by 1300 students and it was extremely professional and very well portrayed. It took one back to the 1770’s when St. Claudine started the Congregation. Her last words “How Good God Is” summarizes everything.
The future programme outline is as follows :
2009 Feb: Workshops and Seminars, Foundress Day; 2009 March: Workshops and Seminars; 2009 April: Musical Housie and Summer Camp; 2009 June: Tree Plantation, Workshops and Seminars; 2009 July: Blood Donation Camp, Annual Day for Grand Parents; 2009 August: Interschool Quiz and Elocution Competition, Folk Dance Competition/Inter Faith Dialogue; 2009 September : Interschool Painting competition, Teachers’ Day; 2009 October: Dandiya & Six a side rink hockey, Interschool tele matches, Interschool mini-olympics; 2009 November : Parents Night, Magazine & Calendar 2010, Children’s’ Day; 2009 December: Fete; 2010 January: Thanks Giving Mass, Cultural Programme, Release of Magazine and Calendar. All in all, a packed year!
To mark the occasion, a calendar, the school souvenir and a mug with “150 years” printed on it were on sale. Needless to say, these items were selling like hotcakes.

Eucharistic Celebration 3rd January 2009

Hi friends,
I felt privileged to be attending the Eucharistic Celebration which began with the mass at the hands of Bishop Valerian D’Souza at the school grounds. The function was impeccable. The mass marked the inauguration of the 150 years celebrations of our school. Sister Diana was present along with many other sisters of the congregation who had travelled from far off places. Many current and ex-teachers were also present like Ms. Chandy, Ms. Cooper, Ms. Yvonne D’Souza. The most touching event was meeting Ms. Dharmadikari our Marathi teacher. She is 92 year of age but still has the same twinkle in her eye !
At the end of the mass we all sang the school song which again brought back nostalgic moments.
It was nice to meet Cathy Pande (nee Ferrao) after many years (she worked with me earlier and is now in Dubai) and I also met Rita Dias in person (we’ve been in touch on email).
I look forward to attending “The Guardian Angel” on Wednesday, January 7, 2009.
